Asia Adventures: Day Eleven- Inside the Grand Macau Venetian!

Inside the Grand Venetian!

Most of the day was spent eating so you're in for a treat! You'll be jealous and your mouths will be drooling over the food that I'm going to show you...

We were craving the Portuguese egg tarts, so we decided to take a trip to the Lees Storwey Bakery again to treat ourselves with a box of six this time. We got lucky too because they had just come out of the oven.
Here's a picture:

By the way, it is always best to book a table at restaurants in Macau because what we decided to do was not book a place at the restaurant Zi Yat Heen at the Four Seasons hotel (two Michelin star restaurant) and turned out there wasn't any available tables at the time which was 2:00pm and the only other seats available was an hour later.
During that time, we strolled off to buy the tickets to see the House of Dancing Waters in the City of Dreams, the only time we actually exited the Venetian.
If you've not heard of the play, it is like a typical musical but with different performances such as motorbiking, diving and many other random things.
Our show was at 5:00pm which gave us plenty of time to eat dim sum which is pretty all they did and is famous for here at Zi Yat Heen.

This was the entrance to City of Dreams..

Outside the threatre

I am very impressed with the food quality and service at this restaurant. I got to try many different dishes that I would not usually go for in a normal dim sum place, so that was nice!

I did not think the desserts were all that special but the main dim sum dishes were so delicious, especially the abolone pastry dish. I didn't know what it was until after when I looked it up on the internet.

After feasting on dim sum for two hours, we went back to the City of Dreams to watch the show which was starting at 5:00pm, the whole show was about an hour and a half.

The House of Dancing Water is a must see!, it is very different to the other typical shows that you see in other parts of the world.

This show has different entertainments such as motorbiking and diving. There is also a story to the show too which is good!, we were lucky to see a Christmas special and so the show carried on for another fifteen minutes.

Our rest of the day consisted of dinner at Jade Dragon, it did not realise the place was going to be that posh and I felt quite trampy with the clothes I had on.

Jade dragon serves traditional Shanghai food and it is highly rated on TripAdvisor and once again we didn't book a sit but luckily they had plenty of space and seats for us to choose from so that was all good!

Here are some of the foods were ate there:

The service was pretty good and the only thing that bothered me was probably the building works which happened right next to us.
They gave us complimentary desserts, I noticed a bit of a trend going on with the complimentary desserts during my time in Macau. It was so sad to leave so soon.
We got the ferry bus to our chosen turbo jet which was called the Cotai Water Jet. Once again there were unlicensed taxi drivers trying to give us a ride and said it would be much quicker. Don't get the unless you wanna end up paying more than it actually is.
We got home at about 10:00 ish, but that was only the Macau ferry port in Sheung Wan, we then got the MTR back to our house, that was such a long journey for another two hours.
There will be more Asia Adventures coming shortly!
Love you all :)
Mwah!

Asia Adventures: Day Nine- Feels like I'm still in South Korea!

Feels like I'm still in South Korea!

We didn't have anything planned in the morning, this is what we eat though :).

All the shops were literally a five minute away from our house, so convenient!

Later that evening, we were feeling Korean food and I still wanted to try kimchi fried rice and bibimbap but did not get a chance to in South Korea :(.

The restaurant was called School Food in Sha Tin New Town Plaza Shopping mall
It is a franchise Korean food restaurant dotted around many parts of Asia and the USA.

Now I know why Kimchi fried rice is so popular!, mmmmmmmmm and the cheese on top of that..... I want it now :(

There is always room for dessert, in the same Plaza we decided to go to Patisserie Tony Wong which is very famous in Hong Kong and is a must try!

The cakes are a work of art!, you should visit the Tony Wong website to view the marvellous cakes.

http://www.patisserietonywong.com/

Tony Wong had a set menu tea deal where you get a cake and a drink for 70 HK dollars.

  • Green Tea Opera Cake
This cake is my all time favourite at Tony Wong, the green tea is strong in flavour, the mousse gives a creamy texture to the cake and there are crunchy bits of biscuit at the bottom.

  • CONCORDE with sea salt
This was the one I had, the straws on the outside is meringue and inside there is chocolate sponge with mousse and on top there is more meringue with sea salt sprinkled on top. There is a perfect balance between sweetness and saltiness!

  • Raspberry and Dark Chocolate Cake

  • Gold Metal Cake
As described on the Tony Wong website

-Chocolate Sable
-Cocoa Sponge
-Chocolate Mousse
-Almond & Hazelnut Crunchy
-Jasmine Cream Brulee
-Jasmine Whipped Ganache

Next post will be Macau!, more delicious food discoveries yet to come!

Asia Adventures: Day Two- Chilling before the next stop to South Korea!

Chilling before the next stop, (Seoul) SOUTH KOREA!

We were literally so jet lag from our long plane journey with Emirates. I we had another flight off to Seoul the next day...
Before heading off to Seoul,  my family and I went to my cousins daughter's birthday party, the party was held in a massive room within a kids playground area located on the top floor of a massive shopping mall.
Here are some pictures, the man you see performing is apparently famous and regularly appears on television in children's programmes..

After a chilled relaxing lunchtime with the family, we got straight home to start packing for Seoul!!

Our flight to Seoul was the next day in the morning at around 7, so we had to pack and go at 3am, still jetlag get from our flight to Hong Kong.

My first ever Mcdonalds breakfast!!
