Paris day trip: last day

Paris day trip: last day

We woke up a bit late this day and we ended up missing breakfast which was from 7:30 to 10:30. So we decided to get a bite to eat at Cafe de la Paix, which was four stars on trip advisor.
We had to stop at the station Opera, one stop from my hotel This was our last place to eat before we caught our flight back to the UK. I decided to get a vanilla Millefeuille which is one of my most favorite French pastry. This pastry was so light and there was lots of cream!! I had this with rich hot chocolate. It was so rich and divine, I couldn't finish it all.

After that we decided to buy some more pastries because we just couldn't get enough of them!!

We went to a Japanese and French infused pastry and cake store called Parisserie Sadaharu Aoki. I especially loved the green tea flavored cake. Although each cake was around five pounds which is bloody expensive!! It is still worth buying in my opinion, because of the amount of work the chef has put in decorating each cake. Honestly the green tea cake out of the three is the best pastry cake I have ever had so far!! There were different elements with the cake which hit all my taste senses. I can tell the design was well thought out. The other two were just as delicious. They were orange chocolate flavour and coffee chocolate flavour.

Waiting to catch our flight home!!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my trip to Paris, I certainly enjoyed my time there and will never forget the memories created from this family trip!

Paris day trip: day four

Paris day trip four:

Paris day trip or shall we say Versailles day trip!!, we just had to visit Versailles during our trip in Paris, it only took an hour to get there from our hotel in Paris so the journey was not that far!

First thing in the morning we had our usual continental breakfast, we took some chocolate croissants with us for our journey to Versailles, we couldn't resist!!

We were still so hungry when we arrived in Versailles which was around noon time so lunch time it was...
We came across a cafe which pretty much served  everything inside a crepe. We had this dish where there was a burger bun inside of a crepe instead of the usual brioche bun, that was so filling and we still ate some more!!!
I also had a peach and vanilla ice cream crepe which was also so filling, I had a massive food belly after all of that...

That food took a while to settle in my stomach!
What better way to walk it off by queuing with the Versailles palace for two hours!, look at it!

There were so many people and no seats anywhere, it was nice to learn a bit about the history in Versailles and I took some nice pictures to add to my collection pictures on holiday trips.

Believe it or not, we went to another place to eat!!, I don't know how our tummies managed to have room for one more gut busting dinner...
Anyways we decided to eat at a  nearby restaurant with good ratings on trip advisor called Instant Fraicheur. This restaurant mostly had locals from Versailles. I did not see one tourist and the waiter did not speak English and so we had to use Google translate. I loved the idea of local food, which I definitely got from this restaurant. The chef even came out to greet us and told us what was on the menu. I had beef for main course, which was cooked to perfection!! I especially loved the potatoes with the sauce. I have to say, I was not as impressed with the dessert. I usually like a runny inside in a chocolate soufflé/fondant, but inside The cake overbooked and did not leave that runny middle. I tried my sisters creme brûlée. I have to say, the chef that made that I will happily applaud. I have never tasted anything like it, it was creamy and it did not taste like a normal creme brûlée I find in the shops. It was packed full of vanilla and tasted almost as if they have had caramelised condensed milk of some sort.

After the lovely dinner, we travelled back to Paris, we had a little midnight snack in the hotel too.
Stay tuned for the last day of Paris tomorrow!!!

Paris day trip: day three

Paris day trip three:
This was a special day, a day where I experienced quality food at a two Michelin star restaurant located in the area of the Arc De Triomphe. The restaurant was situated in a department store. It took us a while to figure that out. It was called L' Atelier de Joel Robuchon. They have a branches in Paris, Singapore, London, Hong Kong.
I was very impressed with the main course and dessert. The fish was cooked to perfection and was seasoned well, the flavours married well with the fish. The dessert was very beautiful, I have always wanted to try the unusual combination of strawberries and basil. Even though it sounds like the flavours will not match, they somehow did!!
The sweetness of the strawberries, combined with the soothing slightly savoury basil sorbet is a great finish to the three course meal.
The whole three course meal cost around £50.00 which is not bad for a two Michelin star restaurant!

After, we decided to visit the Arc De Triomphe and took a few pictures there.

Oh, forgot to mention that I tried macaroons from a famous known brand called Pierre Herme. I thought I'd try the salted caramel flavour. Each macaroon was around £2.00, which is so expensive for such a tiny thing!!
Stay tuned for my next day trip to Paris tomorrow!
Thanks guys and like this!

Paris day trip:day two

Paris trip day two:

Back to the Notre Dame we go!!!, this time we were going to go inside but we saw the massive queue and so we decided to be sensible and took pictures outside instead which was good enough for us :)
After all that strenuous picture taking session, guess what we had again...ICE CREAM!!
We just had to go, apparently I was advised to go according to one of our friends who have been before..
The famous gelato place nearby was called Gelati d'Alberto, the service is brilliant and the gelato itself was very high quality and was not too sweet. I had pistachio and Oreo flavour, I thought the pistachio flavor was not as strong as the ice cream in Hugo & Victor on the first day. I did not like the Oreo flavour as much.

After, we visited the Louvre, it rained so we didn't have to queue, it was great!!, we all rushed in and we got inside in no time!

We finally saw the famous Mona Lisa. My sister and I maneuvered our way to the front of the crowd to see the Mona Lisa up front, we were so damn lucky to see the painting up close.

The only reason we visited the Louvre was to see the famous Mona Lisa, after that we briskly walked out way out of here to find ourselves some luxury chocolates made in France and made by a famous chocolatier called Jacque Genin, his shop was literally named Jacque Genin, so original!!
This place was so hard to find, we search high and low but we finally found it after a long trekk. We discovered there was a mini cafe inside, selling many forms of pastries and served high tea.
On the side was a mini chocolate shop, we is what we came for!!!

After we got hungry and went to a nearby sushi place called Enoki.

Stay tuned for the next one:)

Paris day trip: day one

Day one in Paris:

Hey guys!!,

This summer my family and I decided to book a holiday to Paris, the city of love!

We decided to stay in a hotel around thirty minutes from the centre of Paris, that way we would save a lot of money on hotel stay. Our stay came with continental breakfast every morning and all the pastries were freshly baked the night before. I know because I could smell it down the corridor!

After having filled our tummies in the morning we headed off to the Musee d'Orsay....
There you can see a huge clock at the centre of the museum, we spent around two hours roaming around and saw many statues and objects, it was quite interesting to learn about the history...

Our next stop off point was at a famous cake and sweet shop called Hugo and Victor, we ended up buying ice cream instead of the sweets but it was well worth it! I had pistachio flavour and it was amazing!!!

We pasted this cute little cake shop, I saw it on television once so it must have been famous!

Whilst eating our ice creams, we went to look for another tourist attraction (museum) called Musee de L'Orangerie
where we saw the famous water lillies by Claude Monet!!

It was getting quite late into the afternoon and our tummies needed food! Luckily we booked a place beforehand as you all know Paris can get very busy at night with all the romantic night dinners especially restaurants near the river. A perfect romantic spot!
We headed to the Notre Dam and the restaurant was right outside it called the Le Tournebiene! It was there that I had snails for the first time, it tasted kind of like chewy mushrooms, which I didn't mind. I also had a fish casserole dish with potatoes, leeks, vegetables and fish. I never had it before and I must say it was so delicious and hearty. To end the day, I had a gooey chocolate fondant sponge with vanilla ice cream topped with caramel sauce!!!

Stay updated for my next Paris blog post!!

Review: 3 Concept Eyes Fresh Aqua Mist

3 Concept Eyes- Fresh Aqua Mist

My skin type: Dry and sensitive skin

3 Concept Eyes is a very popular brand in Asia and is run by a company called Stylenanda which was discovered in 2004. I thought I might try out their Fresh Aqua Mist for the summer to hydrate my skin on the go and also as I had ordered some other makeup stuff from Yesstyle, there would only be free shipping if I ordered just over £20. I bought this mist for around £2.50 for 30ml.

My thoughts: To be honest, I thought this mist was a waste of money because firstly, it does not moisturise my face. I would much prefer using cream because it is more effective and secondly, the smell of the mist is not pleasant, it just smells of chemicals. It seems like I am spraying a bunch of chemicals on my face and the company has not even bothered to include the ingredients on the packaging. The omission of the ingredients stated shows that the product isn't reliable and it's properties can't be verified. A positive aspect of this product that I can say is that I can bring the mist everywhere with me and it is especially suitable for holidays to refresh and to cool down the face. I can also agree that when sprayed on the face full of makeup, the makeup will not smudge.

Pros:
  • Makeup does not smudge
  • Portable
  • Refreshing on the face
  • Useful for hot weather
Cons:
  • Takes a while to dry
  • Unpleasant smell
  • Expensive
  • Does not moisturise dry skin
