Asia Adventures: Day Ten- Off to the Asian Las Vegas!

Off to the Asian Las Vagas!

First thing in the morning, we had to catch the MTR train to Sheung Wan. Once we arrived, there were directions showing us the way to the ferry port. Don't worry if you're planning on traveling to Macau from Hong Kong it should be easy!
You can pretty much buy a return ticket straight away from the ticket office, each ticket cost around 400 HK dollars. There are many different ferries you can choose to hop on and they all range in different prices, we chose the Cotai Water Jet.

The ferry had a drinks counter where we could buy drinks but it was so pricey.
The journey took about an hour and so it didn't take that long to get there, as we got there we could use our Hong Kong identity card to pass the border much quicker.
A bus took us straight to the Venetian so that was very handy.
Here are some pictures from the entrance of the Venetian, the inside looked exactly like in the palace reminded me of the one in Versailles.

I noticed there the main hall area with the famous globe was blocked out, a Korean tv crew were filming and I couldn't help but peek in to see.
Whilst all that was happening, my sister and dad queued up to check in,  originally we paid for a standard two double bed rooms but then my sister asked if we could get upgraded and they said it was fine and we didn't even have to pay the extra,  so we were lucky!!

Just to point out, the hotel is huge!!!,  inside there are casinos at the very bottom floor, then there are cute little shops and bakeries located all around the hotel.  So we didn't have to go very far to find anything.

Here is a tour of our room.....

By the time we settled in, it was already around 6:00pm, we had made a restaurant booking in other hotel near the Venetian at 7:00, we just knew there was going to be a queue for the taxis.
Of course, there is a business made in this, so other people besides from the taxi people will try and persuade you to get a ride in their cars which would be quicker but more expensive.  In my opinion, I wouldn't go get a ride from the unoffical taxi drivers because one,  they could take me somewhere else and secondly, they may drive around in circles until they actually reach the supposed destination.
The group in front of us, kindly let us through first because they knew the driver could speak Cantonese and we could, how very kind.

We arrived at Mandarin Oriental, if you have ever been to Hakkasan in Mayfair London,  the atmosphere is very similar.
The good was very good but the only thing was there were three waiters were serving us and I felt that one waiter was fine. There was a point where a random waiter that wasn't serving us came over to ask if the food was ok then I said why is he here? Silly me, thinking he had already gone but actually was right behind me.
The food overall was delicious and cooked perfectly, my favourite part were the complimentary desserts at the end.

Here are some pictures:

After the restaurant,  we decided to roam around the shops in the Venetian.  We also had some Portuguese egg tarts at Lord Stow's Bakery and Cafe,  which apparently are the best ones in Macau. I have heard great things about this place and yes I think now I know why.
There are freshly made and there is caramelised sugar on top.
They go quickly and there's always a queue.....

Went I was on my way back to the hotel room,  I overheard a man jumping up and down and making excited noises and as soon as he saw me,  I guess he got embarrassed and stopped,  hahaa.
I guess he was excited about staying in the Venetian.

Our day ended early,  ready to take on the next day in the Adventures of Macau!
Stay updated for the next post!!
